Congrats to Wanda for killing this group of hero-coded villains. 😍

Killing people like the Illuminati is the kind of thing heroes were meant to do. 😂

Matthew’s Messages
October 1, 2024
End times for evildoing; prepare for truths, changes; no WWIII; assassination attempt on Trump’s life, election; enlightening receptive people; the soul, reincarnation
With loving greetings from all souls at this station, this is Matthew. “Please tell us the truth. Is the chaos because these are the end times prophesied in the Bible?” These are the end times for evildoing! The time is up for deception, cruelty, warring, oppression and everything else based in darkness!
The Illuminati’s fortunes, remnants of influence in mainstream media, scattered segments of military might, and numbers of minions are fast dwindling. They cannot stop the power of the light and their energy streamers with attachments of base intentions cannot enter the frequency of the energy plane where Earth is heading. All the dark ones can do is keep trying to create fear as the violence and destruction they had set in motion runs out its course. And with that, a long, long era of darkness on the planet will come to an end.
Every country in your world is experiencing some measure of confusion and upheaval. With evolution nipping at the heels of revolution—an astronomical revolution!—chaos is unavoidable and so is the emergence of truths.
There are too many variables for us to know when truths and major changes in the world’s economic system will start coming forth and whether there may be outages in power and communication, but the intensifying commotion in Earth’s energy field of potential signifies that the time is not far off. We suggest having on hand two or three weeks’ supply of food and water for family and pets, flashlights and other emergency essentials. As stated in previous messages, if there is a lockdown, it will be for your protection.

Actually in the original comics it seemed that The Illuminati was meant to be a lesson in hubris. So many people call them out including Namor who was on the team. They never accomplished much and in the end they had to painfully admit things probably would have turned out better if they worked with their fellow heroes instead of just making a secret group trying to make decisions on their own.
That's the kind of thing that Waldron doesn't understand. A guy who justifies the workers of a fascistic organization by saying "They were just following orders" is never going to condemn the Illuminati.
In MoM he condemned Stephen for what he did in Titan, we're basically fed the idea that Stephen was playing god by "choosing" a timeline. But in the same breath, we're shown the Illuminati as perfectly entitled to kill their Stephen because the "biggest threat in the multiverse" is always Doctor Strange. That is such a huge sign of arrogance on the Illuminati's part: they knew ONE Strange and that was enough to draw an absolute truth regarding the entire multiverse? It's crazy.
The writing should challenge that, the writing should put Reed and the others on a stand so that they can see their hubris. However their entire scene is full of jabs at Stephen, a flashback to a vicious murder that is justified and excused as "necessary" despite the fact that the victim was surrendering and no longer a threat, and when Wanda kills them off that's framed as a display of her villainy!
Perhaps the comic book readers knew that the Illuminati are always supposed to be the bad guys, but the casual moviegoers don't (I didn't). So when the narrative doesn't challenge them... you got a lot of people assuming 838 Stephen's death was okay and not a sadistic and completely avoidable murder. They see them as heroes when they're villains. But I suppose Mikey wanted a scene where an OG character is blamed for something a variant of his had done. Damn, that sounds familiar...

@therese-lokidottir @valkyrieandstrangeridingaragorn Hell, IIRC the Illuminati weren't mentioned again after Wanda's HEROIC act of giving them the fate that fascists like them deserve. 🤔
Tumblr media
RIP Imposter Cap 😂. You are no Steve Rogers. 😂 Someone who collaborated with Zola and thus was complicit in Bucky's torture does not have the right to use Steve's catchphrase. 🤣
Tumblr media
A fitting fate given that these assholes murdered their Stephen in cold blood. 🤨

He totally had it coming. 😁

As did he. 😂
In all seriousness, these guys really only served to provide some familiar faces for Wanda to brutally kill for shock value.
Lots of people saying "don't worry, there are so many Loki variants and only one of them is in the tree so we'll see Loki again" but I've gotten attached to this Loki with this character arc and I want Mobius (and the others) to reunite with this Loki

If Wanda absolutely had to be the villain in DSMOM, I'd basically tone down everything about her except for the Illuminati attack. Instead of killing sorcerers at Kamar-Taj, she just knocks them out (and if any of them die, that was accidental and she didn't want to do that). And in similar fashion to Ghost from Ant-Man and the Wasp, Wanda has no intention of killing America Chavez even though Stephen and the others think that's what she wants.
(The Illuminati can be Wanda's only kills, and she can cut loose with them because they're villains who've been hero-coded. I'd just change things by having 616 Wanda be there in person instead of Dreamwalking into 838 Wanda. The Illuminatis' deaths are acceptable for Wanda to still carry out. 😂)
haha I love how happy we are about the murders of the Illuminati, she should get a medal for that alone. It should have lasted a bit longer and I wouldn't have minded her smiling and enjoying the damn thing. I sure had a big smile on my face when a certain member was killed... it's easy to guess which one isn't it 😏
It's interesting you should mention Ghost since the great thing about Ava is that she had Foster with her, and when she decided to kidnap Cassie he managed to get through to her and stop her, and of course she realized that her plan was not right. But Wanda was completely alone, she had no support system and no one to care for and about her. Stephen tried but by that point she was too far gone.
Just the mere idea of Wanda wanting to kill America is utterly stupid. Why couldn't we have a story where Wanda goes to Stephen, she tells him that she fears her kids are in danger (like we saw in that post-credit scene of WV) so Stephen helps her not knowing a thing about incursions, and so once they reach that specific universe where the kids are in danger, they save them but Wanda wants to stay there... and Stephen tries to convince her? Hell, why not mix that with Wanda using her newfound powers to find out about Donna so they both have a chat and he doubts himself and they fight...
Was it really necessary to just turn Wanda into a caricature of a villain? She could have been an antagonist like Ghost and things would have been so much better, no need for that massive murder in Kamar-Taj or Wanda trying to dehumanize a teenage girl.

Maybe this is too broad, but wondering if there's a better term than "conspiracy theorist" to describe some large figures in the ongoing national discourse? Not that "fluoride in the drinking crowd" were serious thinkers or total harmless, but am I alone is finding "conspiracy theory" too quaint and mild to describe how mainstream rather fringe these things are and also how totally evidence-free and something just plain dumb they can also be?
I don’t think conspiracy theories have ever been quaint and mild.

Think about the history of antisemitism from medieval blood libels to 19th century theories of Jewish financial cabals to the “Protocols of the Elders of Zion” dreamed up by Tsarist agents-provocateur that took the theory global and spawned untold numbers of imitators, to Hitler’s invention of “Judeo-Bolshevism” that married traditional antisemitism to anti-Communism and nationalist populism. Conspiracy theories one and all, but fully capable of spawning pogroms and fascist dictatorships.
Likewise, we think of Anti-Masonic or Illuminati conspiracy theories as self-evidently ridiculous and harmless, but we forget that they were used by cultural conservatives in church and state to wage culture wars on the Enlightenment, liberalism, secularism, democracy, every revolution from America to France to 1848 and beyond, feminism and almost every social movement of the 18th and 19th century. People died or were surveilled or were sent to prison, political parties were formed or banned, and conservatism itself was founded in the name of “poisoning the minds of the lower orders” to inoculate them from the influence of secret societies.
As Dan Olsen has shown, even seemingly benign conspiracy theories like the JFK assassination cover-up or the Moon landing was faked or the earth is flat can hide much more malign motivations, just waiting for the opportunity to radicalize and proselytize:

Yes, it still amuses me that there are people who accuse Alex Hirsch of being anti-Semitic, it's just so absurd that even though I saw people writing it a long time ago, it will still amuse me

Did Stephen screw up? Yeah, but the thing is he realized what he, he came to the Illuminati admitting what he did so he could make things right. He maintained enough self awareness and control to give up power on his own volition. 838-Strange was no danger to anyone at that point. Strange take desperate actions when he feels that is the best only option to SAVE lives. The Illuminati took brutal action because they felt like they had the right to punish someone for their mistakes. Apologize all you want, make a sad face and say you only did what you had to, but nothing was necessary about that execution.
The Avengers don't kill Loki because he yielded, he was defenceless and made no further attempts to fight. No good would come from killing him and it would in no way be necessary. The Justice League two-parter "Better World" that showed an alternate universe version of the team who started going to extremes and the point there was not only did the team going to the extremes mean they were no longer heroes but how after a while it became less about the greater good and more about maintaining control.
Heroes aren't meant to be judge, jury and executioner. Its not up to them to decide who lives and who dies. Killing someone on their knees who isn't going to and doesn't want to do any further harm is the farthest thing from heroic. Super Heroes meant to help people and save lives. They need to know how to help people through means other than violence.

Hey, illuminati, you had to heal your Strange, not to kill him! Hate all of you.

Wanda Maximoff being an unintentional hero for Earth 838 😁

Yeah, this was a heroic deed on Wanda's part. 😂 Considering that the Illuminati are really villains who are framed as "heroes". At least, that's what I call a bunch of people who murdered their Stephen Strange in cold blood. 🤨
